Patterns - Designer - Jensen, Ruth
Ruth received her Bachelor’s degree in business merchandising with an emphasis in clothing and textiles. After working briefly for a clothing manufacturer, she took on the full-time responsibilities of mother of seven. Her four oldest children have since married, and Ruth now offers her own original technique of Dimensional Foundation Piecing. Her teaching style is so fun, and easy to follow. Her first patterns were published in 1991. She has since been prolific in creating over 70 completely original designs, including two books that have set a higher standard for instructional clarity. She has been published in several magazines. She and her husband, Greg, and their three younger children live in Provo, Utah.

Ruth can take the beginner, just learning to thread her machine, help her produce an advanced product and have a riot doing it. “It’s all about giving people a sense of ability and confidence that can build them and bring incredible joy.”

I am Karie Jewell. Owner and Designer of Two Kwik Quilters. The Two Kwik Quilters name was established when I had a business partner.... Terry Chapman. In 2005 her husband retired and they moved, I purchased the business and now it is just me...Two Kwik Quilters- so easy, one person can do it!!

I have been quilting for 18 years and designing from the very beginning. I had a friend who had taken a hand piecing/hand quilting class in 1991 and she showed me a rotary cutter, mat and ruler and told me that there was a way to strip piece things, however she hadn’t "figured" out how to do that yet. As a beginner, I didn’t know that there were patterns available...I thought everyone sat down with graph paper and "figured" out yardage requirements and what to do on their own. Well, I "figured" out a lot on my own and with Terry, and now I am finally where I am today.

I took my first quilting class in 1991. After taking many classes on piecing and appliqué, I decided that hand appliqué was the one and only thing I really wanted to do.

After trying various needlework hobbies such as crewel, needlepoint and knitting, I came across a small quilt shop where I took a sampler class from Sherry Lundquest.

Since then I’ve been taught by some of the best teachers around - Joyce Selin in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Judy Simmons, Patricia Campbell, Jennifer Amore, Dilys Fronks (Wales), Nancy Pearson, Carol Armstrong, Faye Anderson, Jean Ray Laurie, Ted Storm (Holland), Luche Jonkers (Belgium), Judy Mathison and Kathy Ingmundson among others.

Now I enjoy teaching the joys of both hand and fusible appliqué. I’ve taught a number of guilds in Georgia, North Carolina, Switzerland and Hungary.

Teaching in three cities in Switzerland was wonderful and being the first American to teach in Hungary was a special privilege. I’ve traveled to Hungary twice and my pattern RALPH is a direct result of teaching them the second year.

Once back in the USA, others wanted the rooster pattern so I decided to self publish with Eileen Sullivan as my mentor.
