Emily Taylor Design
Emily Taylor Design
In 1993, I began working as a mural artistó I actually got my start by knocking door-to-door in upscale neighborhoods while I was still in college. Painting murals gave me the opportunity to work in some of the finest homes and businesses in the West, as well as the opportunity to fine-tune my painting skills. Since then Iíve designed everything from rubber stamps to wallpaper. Iíve even sold my prints on QVC! However, it wasnít until I became a mother that my focus shifted and I found my niche in painting illustrations of women and children in daily domestic life. Today, Iím a diet-coke-drinking, PTA-participating wife & mama of three! I cook, clean, do laundry and care for my family, so the inspiration for my work is always around when I take off my apron and get ready to paint!

My designs, both for fabric & for quilting, always start with the color palette. I work with vintage fabric swatches, my flower garden, wrapping paper, childrenís illustrations from the early part of the last century, flea market finds, antique quilts to start finding colors that speaks to me. The palette dictates the designs themselves and slowly a collection grows. I call myself a hybrid fabric designer. I like to use many different mediums and techniques to create my designs including vintage fabrics, painting, computer, line drawings, just to name a few.

Franny and Jane
Franny and Jane

About FRANNYÖ I have loved fabrics and sewing for as long as I can remember. When I was 6 years old, I snuck into my momís closet with a pair of scissors and cut up one of her shimmering evening gowns to make doll dresses. When I was in 9th grade, I took a sewing class and was hooked for life. For me, fabric design is the synthesis of every aspect of my life: sewing, painting, graphic design, collage and ultimately story-telling. Fabric design is simply another form of story telling. A good story causes us to escape our world for a moment Ė only to bring us back to it with a greater understanding of it, and hopefully helps us to live, love and appreciate it more.

About JANEÖ Jane started quilting over 20 years ago by designing and hand piecing a queen sized quilt. Caught up in study and travel, it was not until 2010 did she rekindle her passion for quilting again. ďI love everything about quilting and the quilting industry. I am so inspired by the enthusiasm and creativity I see everyday.Ē A scientist at heart, Jane loves the engineering behind the quilt making process, the planning, the fabric selection, the designing and construction, and of course the quilting. She is always ready to challenge her skills when designing a new block or quilt. These days you can find Jane in her studio running a professional long-arm quilting service, teaching, designing and planning her next publication.

The fabric collections represent colors that could have been found in 18th century rural homes in France. Different textures and prints are meant to blend together for projects that are both beautiful and functional. Filled with soft faded reds, ticking stripes and provencal checks, the fabrics are made to be used for heirloom quilts as well as home interiors.
